History
Dipl.-Ing. Hans-Juergen Bisping founded Bisping Medizintechnik in 1987. He successfully ran the company for more than 20 years. On November 1st, 2010, he handed over the company to the new owner and CEO, Dr.-Ing. Andreas Hegenbart.
Owner and CEO
Dr. Andreas Hegenbart studied Electrical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University focussing on Medical and Microsystems Technology. After his studies he worked for five years as a research fellow at the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University heading the Plasma and Surface Technology group. During the following four years he worked in different managing positions for Siemens AG in Erlangen and Muelheim a. d. R. On November 1st, 2010, he followed Hans-Juergen Bisping as owner and CEO of Bisping Medizintechnik GmbH.
The company’s founder
After his studies of Electrical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University Hans-Juergen Bisping worked as a research fellow in the Cardiology Department at the University Hospital Aachen (Prof. Dr. S. Effert) since 1969. His work was mainly dedicated on electro stimulation of the heart. In 1980 Hans-Juergen Bisping became Director Technology and Development for the German subsidiary of Dutch Vitatron Holding B.V. (today a subsidiary of Medtronic, Inc.). Later he worked as a European consultant for the American Intermedics, Inc. (today part of Boston Scientific Corporation). He was responsible for clinical trials of new implantable pacemaker systems and for the European medical devices regulatory processes. In 1987 Hans-Juergen Bisping established Bisping Medizintechnik. Since November 1st, 2010, he supports the new owner and CEO, Dr. Andreas Hegenbart, with all his expertise and knowledge.
Hans-Juergen Bisping is the author of numerous scientific publications and patents. Among others he developed and patented a new transvenous screw electrode (“the Bisping electrode”) which has been used as implantable pacemaker lead several hundred thousand times and is still being used. Hans-Juergen Bisping is regular member of the German Society for Cardiology (DGK) and was a member of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS, former North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, NSAPE) for many years.
